Christine Clavell, MD

Dr. Clavell is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal surgery and medical retina. She earned her medical degree summa cum laude from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and completed advanced fellowship training at West Virginia University Eye Institute and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She is committed to providing expert, compassionate care with a patient-first approach.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Clavell serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is a published author and presenter, an active peer reviewer for ophthalmology and retina journals, Treasurer of the New Mexico Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Clavell is passionate about patient care, mentorship, and global eye health initiatives through international outreach. Her recognitions include being named a Top Doctor by Albuquerque The Magazine from 2019 to 2021 and induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
