Dr. Jordan Desautels is a fellowship-trained cornea specialist dedicated to helping patients achieve clearer vision through advanced, personalized eye care. His clinical interests include corneal disease, refractive surgery, cataract surgery, and comprehensive ophthalmology.
Dr. Desautels earned his medical degree from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the nation’s prestigious medical honor society. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Utah’s John A. Moran Eye Center, followed by advanced fellowship training in cornea, refractive surgery, and external disease at the Casey Eye Institute at Oregon Health & Science University.
Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Desautels earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, graduating cum laude from Boston University, as well as a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from Tufts University. His background in engineering and research gives him a unique perspective on emerging technologies, surgical innovation, and the highly individualized nature of vision correction.
Throughout his training, Dr. Desautels has contributed to numerous published studies on corneal disease, laser vision correction, corneal transplantation, cataract surgery, and other areas of ophthalmology. His academic work has earned national recognition, including first place for a research presentation at the 2025 Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology conference and an award for the best quality-improvement project at the Moran Eye Center.
Service has also been an important part of Dr. Desautels’ career. He volunteered with the Moran Eye Center’s Navajo Outreach Project and Fourth Street Outreach Clinic and founded a program designed to introduce middle school students to careers in medicine.
Dr. Desautels is excited to bring his advanced training and thoughtful, patient-centered approach to Southwest Eye Consultants and the Four Corners community. He believes exceptional care begins with listening carefully, clearly explaining each patient’s options, and developing a treatment plan tailored to their individual needs and goals.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Desautels and his wife are newlyweds and look forward to beginning this next chapter together in the Four Corners region.
